I've read rather unpleasant things about the security process in DME for SQ 61/62, namely that there is a pat down involved. Is this true, and is there any way to avoid it short of avoiding 61/62? Also, by pat down, are we talking full TSA grope-fest or better/worse?

I once avoided a long security line and grope-fest at LED by opting for a "porno scan" (i.e. xray imaging machine). That option had no line at all, and took me a whole 20 seconds. There was a little radiation involved, probably comparable to a medical xray. I'm not familiar with SQ requirements, but I know DME has such scanners too.

EyeOnTheSkies, never transit in India if you can't handle a pat down. Even domestic connections there require pat downs.

As for DME Transit Security, are we allowed to go to a lounge (I'm flying F) or out in the terminal during the crew changeover?
