A DL flight from DTW was quarantined for two hours at MDW today after one passenger broke out in rashes. She was connecting in from Uganda. All pax were kept on board while Chicago paramedics examined the woman; they sent photos to the CDC. It was determined that she most likely had bed bug bites from her Uganda trip; fears had been that it could have been monkeypox.

WJR radio in DTW area is reporting the woman called her mother who called a local hospital who called CDC.

What hasn't been said is when the first call took place -- could it have been while the place was on the ground in DTW?

The question that will probably never be answered is why didn't she request medical help earlier in the day !

The plane was a CRJ. With that in mind, disinfecting costs more than the plane is worth- they just just scrap it.

Yet another way for us to cause DL to scrap these. I might be convinced to become a carrier of bed bugs if there is a guarantee that the RJ's will be destroyed!!

It could lead to confusion- it is hard to tell the difference between an RJ and a bedbug.
