    Looking on the bright side — with current fares to Europe this is less than one half of one percent!

    I think I've spent too much time on the internet. Every time I see something like this now I picture some vaguely anthropomorphic plane in an accountant suit gobbling up a big pile of money and going "OM NOM NOM!".

    In this case, I will defend DL. It is not at all unreasonable to pass on to the customer a government imposed, in this case EU IIRC, new fee. In fact, it would be almost irresponsible to fail to add such a charge quickly to fares.
