The blogs beat this news to death last week.

But no one posted it on Milepoint. (I doubt that I'm the only one who rarely reads blogs).

I was in Israel on the $337 fare, and didn't read the blogs last week. ;)

The blogs haven't managed to kill $50 off Alamo rentals for $25 yet... ;)

What a bummer on the timing for this year. :(

Now, that is the best excuse for missing a deal that I have heard.
Congratulations and blessings on getting married!

    No.

Alamo has never put a cap on the $50 for $25 certificates (so they don't sell out in 5 nanoseconds when bloggers post about the day's deals), and Alamo doesn't have a Chase card bloggers can pimp... :p

I'm sure this is a case of YMMV but,.. Alamo is more expensive than other car rental agencies. My word of the day on the Alamo deal... Caution.

I did the Alamo deal once, but then I discovered more of the many websites that help you find cheaper car rentals. So, now I don't get my self tied to any one of them.

    MMDV.

I find them rarely to be more expensive than Hertz/Avis/National in markets I usually rent in (there has to be a really good special going on, like Hertz Weekender), most often considerably less so. Alamo is usually comparable to Dollar and Thrifty.

The agencies that are consistently least expensive are Advantage (Hertz's off-label), or maybe Fox. But even then they usually aren't (Alamo-$25) less expensive. Advantage is OK and I've used them. Fox is not (they tend to be high-pressure on the extras).

My most frequent markets rented in are SEA (I don't own a car, but there's a Hertz, Avis and Alamo a few blocks from my home- I rent cars for longer use, and use car shares like Car2Go and Zipcar for short time use), LAX/BUR and LAS, with occasional rentals elsewhere, so I am pretty sure I know what I am talking about. And I do shop around...

  19. you don't haunt anyone:) maybe once you've got over the honeymoon

More inventory would be good. I could totally use more Wyndham Rewards. I got upgraded to a suite at the New Yorker when I burned 16K there for an overnight last year. :D

Pity they turned it into a 30K a night hotel.

And turning WR into airline miles at < 1 cpm isn't all that shabby either.

So is this 10% off the discounted price or 10% off the retail price?

I have $3k in Marriott stays during July & August, this could really save me quite a bit. I would lose a bunch of Marriott points from my Marriott Visa but the cash savings would more than make up for it.
