These took a very long time to sell out last year and I ended up purchasing two sets. Let's just say I was able to send the SO on job interviews in a suite for just over $30 a night (8,000 points - we live in Tennessee) and was able to find a nicely-located and suitable room night in Paris, FR for just around $50 a night (12,000 points).

How easy is it to redeem the points?
I am not a member with them, is there any sign up bonus now?

    thanks.

There's a signup bonus that gets both the new member and the referrer 500 points after the new member's first stay. I'm willing to submit a referral to anyone who sends me a private message with their first name and email address. (However, I'm about to step out for a bit and any referral from me would likely not be completed before today's sale begins.)

500 points is a pretty weak referral bonus really. I don't know why I bother. At today's price for points, that's worth less than $2. But if spent wisely could be worth maybe up to around $6?

I got what I wanted. Just a couple packages. That still doesn't leave me with as many as last year when one of their call center agents didn't recognize me at first, pulled up my account, and then recalled, "Oh, you're the guy with all the points!" :)

I couldn't get in at noon eastern (system wouldn't recognize my number) but I did just pick up a 32k point pack. Will deliberate this evening and decide if I want anything else. Won't be a 40k pack, as those have sold out.

icurhere2, I'm looking at maybe using a few points at a Comfort Suites near Biltmore Estate. 12K/nt = about $50. That's not far out of the way for you.

A problem with having only 32K is that you'll only get 1 night out of it if your desired nights costs more than 16K. Then you have a bunch of orphaned points unless you buy more or earn more. Likewise, two 12K nights would still leave you searching for something to do with 8K leftover points. (There are plenty of options for those, but usually few that are appealing to me other than just a highway stay during a roadtrip.)

    I did manage to go a-i. :eek::eek:

The 40k points package sold out around 1 PM ET. I bought the two allowed, one at a time, without much difficulty.

    When will my points post?

Although not listed in my profile, I do have status with Choice (and some residual points at all times). However, I have earned diamond with Hyatt, earned platinum with PriorityClub, free silver with HHonors, residual Marriott and WyndhamRewards, etc. Choice has a very narrow focus with me but still valuable as a TN resident. I admit there are more than a few towns where Choice is the best option.

While the T& C suggest that the points should be used at the specific chain, are we fine to use them at any Choice hotel for reward stays?

Yes. You can use them any way that the Choice Privileges program allows points to be used.

Points are still up for sale. I'm debating whether its worth it! When do points expire?

Dec 31, 2013 (end of the year, two years from when points post to the account)

So you have 2 1/2 years to use these.

I was thinking about using the points for a night in AC. Priceline quotes the hotel at $99. Same hotel would "cost" 20K points.

My Choice points posted to my account today! (I did not have any issues with my account number format during the purchases.)

Looks like you can get into the Comfort Inn and suites at Paradise Island in the Bahamas for about $100/night (25,000 pts.) by taking part in this promo. That more than half off the few nights I checked. Didn't see a thread for today's sale.

I succeeded in getting 64,000 Choice points which, I think, was the lowest cost/point option. :)
Definitely more competition for these than I thought there would be for this deal.

That was a tough one - I am sure that next year, these will go even quicker. I did pick up what we needed for Ireland:

40,000 x 2 for me. 1 set in the pre-sale, 1 set in the regular sale when dropped out of someone's cart
36,000 x 2 for my Dad - this was in the regular sale when it opened
32,000 x 1, 36,000 x 1 for my Mother - both in the regular sale when dropped out of someone's cart.

I hope these point post as fast as they did for Wyndham.
