    On the other hand...

    Early numbers indicates NH has less drops in passenger numbers than JAL (much less) but JAL has cut its capacity by a lot compared to last year and NH is actually expanding its international network. It will be interesting to find out which approach is more effective when more data are released in the months to come.

    But which one would you prefer? Discount or capacity cut?

    Shrinking capacity to make profits didn't work for AC and sent them to a second restructuring !

    LOL that's good to know.

    Looks like JAL is evaluating the situation on a day by day cases...they just randomly cancel flights in the latest announcement...it seems like you are booked on a domestic flight and there aren't enough passengers on it, JAL might just cancel it and move you to another flight. Not sure if that's a good tactic to attract business travelers. Even I am holding off my own domestic booking till later in May because I am not sure if they will cancel my (int'l) flight or not...

    Oh actually NH is having capacity cuts on its domestic network too....looks like they are canceling flights on days with low demand too! I guess those business travelers have no choice unless they want to fly Simon's favorite LCCs :p

    Taking a look at a random date in May only 2 flights are cancelled out of 18 on HND-FUK.....how many has JAL cancelled?

    JAL adds some discounts for summer travel and it applies to the entire network for the entire summer travel period too.

    Now only if they will give me some discounted K fares for Dec...the price is insane right now...:rolleyes: It will only get worse after June 1 when they raise the YQ

    I start seeing some good promotions from Hong Kong. The JAL Select package price drops down to 2009/2010 level.

    E.g. package for
    HKG-KIX 2780++
    HKG-CTS 3580++

    But the catch is they are all on CX codeshares :(
