In this day of legal requirements and overkill, how much is too much?

On a recent stay at a hotel (the Embassy Suites in Carey, NC), I counted 4 large warning/disclaimer signs in the pool area and another 2 in the fitness room next door. I probably missed a few too!

this is the blog post I wrote on it - which mainly is a display of photos. (I'm not actually suggesting that any reforms should be made, the blog post was written mainly to point out the sheer number of such signs)

Do not over exercise???? Who can even do that? Besides you had just run a marathon.

These types of signs are a CYA but actually a good lawyer will kill the denial of liability. The signs are basically put up to convince people that they do not have a case if they get injured. But you will find that the Insurance policies probably will allow claims.

My favorite is the one on the back of Gravel Trucks that say "Do not follow closer than 500 feet" "not responsible for cracked windshields" Actually they are if the load is not properly loaded and a rock falls and cracks your window. They just are trying to get people to not file claims.

No claims and the cost of a sign is cheaper than Tom, Dick, or Harriet filing claims for injury.
