OK...so we've probably all seen at one point or another a scenario where an airline has award seats avaliable but its partners do not. But has anyone seen the inverse?

I'm looking at a flight right now where Qantas sees award space on AA metal but AA doesn't.

Qantas has been showing some phantom space, it was showing seats on Iberia JFK-MAD, but that space didn't show up on BA, ExpertFlyer or when I called AA, so that might be the reason...

I saw a few cases over the holidays where AS First was available for an award booking on AA but was not available for sale on the AS website, which I found very peculiar as you can usually buy open seats in AS First up to a few hours before departure. I didn't try to BOOK any of this so I'm not sure what would have happened if I tried.

Did you try to book any of these phantom seats, just to see what would happen?

No, as I want to book using AA miles, not QF points. :(

If I had re-read your post before asking I would have realized this and asked. ;) That being said and since no one else has asked, any luck calling the reservations hotline? Maybe they can see what QF can see but for some reason this is a bug in the website?
