Does Hyatt status match a Hilton Diamond to Hyatt Diamond?
Sorry Hyatt stopped matching. But sometimes there is a fast track to Diamond.
Apparently (according the GP Concierge on that other site) properties can nominate guests for status match. Presumably they'd do that if you're an important/regular customer at their hotel (or promise to be).
Good to know.
As GM can nominate CC membership, they surel< can do so with diamond status.
I'm betting that this "no status matching" is only temporary, otherwise Hyatt would lose customers to the other chains without reciprocating new customers. For some reason, I think they have "too many" Diamonds right now - perhaps a combination of last year's double stay credit early in the year and then the "instant Plat fast track Diamond" promotion that was pulled early.
I did the temporary match/fast track deal last year, since I had fallen short some stays to retaining diamond. It worked quite well, and even though I had gotten diamond by getting the 14 nights of the promo, I still ended up with over 50 nights in 2010.
I believe that Hyatt shouldn't give out Diamond like candy, but should offer to people with substantial stays at other major chains. The amount of eBay selling of status by photoshopping elite card/info makes it harder on all of us.
I just recently sent an email to the Gold Passport Customer Service requesting a status match from SPG Plat to Hyatt Diamond. They offered me a Diamond Trial Offer. I am awarded Diamond Status immediately but need to complete 12 nights in the next 60 days to earn Diamond Status through February 2013. Since I will be traveling weekly for the next two months, this shouldn't be a problem.
Sounds like they're starting up on the "challenge" again.
And it's actually a pretty reasonable deal. Stay 12 nights now (which I should be able to complete by the end of the month) and have Diamond Status for 23 months...
This might be a great deal if you can find rates like $44 under their half off promo that ends today.
Definitely. And I also forgot to add that the Trial Offer comes with 1,000 bonus points per night for your first six nights.
Plus, you will get 1k points Diamond amenity per night. Plus, 2.5k if you choose dates when club is closed. Plus G bonuses. Might be a good deal (not as good, however, as 5.5k UA miles per stay plus FFN, that we've seen before)
1,000/night for the first six? Interesting that they extend such a benefit when they do not do so for existing diamonds.
Correct. Hyatt does not status match as a practice anymore. However, if you are Hyatt Diamond and want Hilton Diamond, you have to accept a challenge (Hilton will give you Silver and Gold instantly once you show your diamond card).
Nice! This is why I love Hyatt. They are so generous and flexible with their offers and promotions. Enjoy your Diamond status and how quickly your points will accumulate!
Im confused about the bonus points. Am I suppossed to get another 500 or 1000 points while doing the challenge:
Andaz Wall Street: Stay Base 1500 Bonus 1450
Andaz Wall Street: Bonus Bonus 1000
Where did you pull those numbers from? Is that from your folio?
my account online
Weird, I actually see your screenshot when I quote your post but it doesn't show that way on your actual post.
Anyway....if you say you're on a challenge and it's the same challenge offer that jfhscott referenced above, then you're probably getting 1,000 extra bonus points a night, which is the second line item.
On the first line item, you received 1,500 base points. The Bonus Amount column would be broken down like this:
30% bonus * 1,500 base points = 450 points
+ 1,000 point Diamond Amenity
= 1,450 bonus points
Hope that helps.
I had 2 different posts one with text and the other was a screenshot, thats probably why.
I got the same reply after inquiring about their status matching program. In addition, they will only offer the match and trial to certain elites in the following programs:
Clearly they are only interested in status-matching to the programs they consider to be their 'true' competitors in the markets they serve!
Agree....although have always been curious why they would match Hilton Gold with Diamond. Hilton Gold is not that hard to acquire (even without ever stepping into a Hilton - Amex Plat can sometimes get you matched to Hilton Gold, ExecPlat with AA can get you Hilton Gold etc, and this does not even include credit card spending (which obviously can get you even Diamond with Hilton on their Amex card).
They ask you to send in a "statement of account activity" from the program you are matching from. I wonder if they look for stay activity before offering your the trial?
