    All,

Given that I've been to Thailand, China, Brazil, South Korea, and all over Europe. I would like to get some input on where I should spend the week of Christmas 2011?

Give me some cool places worth checking out

Agree with above, sounds like haven't you had any island hops yet.

Fiji, Turks & Caicos, Phillipines, Singapore, the Carribbean, New Zealand - so many islands, phenomenal beaches, food and ambiance.

i.e. city life? or sunny beaches?

I think you need to start off with:

    1) Warm weather
    2) Winter weather
    3) Both

I did Sydney over New Year's holiday to ring in 2005. Remember, it's summer down there at that time.

Climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Taronga Zoo, a lot of walking.....kind of a low-budget trip (was able to get semi-last-minute award availability for both hotel and F-class ticket).

Do you want sun or snow? I prefer snow and have a few suggestions.

I was in Kyiv/Kiev a couple of years ago at X-mas time and it was fantastic. And dirt cheap. The Hotel Ukraina Hotel overlooking Independence Square is something to be seen. A side trip to Chernobyl was interesting but it cost almost as much as the rest of the trip.

Someone above mentioned Zermat. CH was also great at that time of year but Zermat was $$$$. If you can swing it, the hotel up the cog rail was nice (forgot the name). But, you might find a better deal in the Interlacken area - Maybe Lauterbrunnen near the falls? I liked this area much better than Zermat.

Lastly, hearing x-mas songs in French in Paris at Sacre Coeur was quite the treat too.

As for a warm weather place, no idea. If you find a place, let me know

    Cheers -

Depending where your home airport is and which alliance you have status with I would agree with everyone else with Australia and a stopover at possibly DXB?

Probably would fly QF (O/W) from the U.S. then possibly fly EK (O/W) with a stop at DXB?

I would recommend a stopover at SIN too considering SQ flies the A380 from SIN-SYD but finding award tickets will definitely be a hassle...

Please consider coming to NZ. Your visit will help fund part of the rebuild effort for Christchurch.
