Just received this email: We want to thank you for your recent flight on Delta. We know that you have a small and decreasing choice of carriers when you fly and appreciate your business. We occasionally hear from our customers that overcrowding can be an issue on our planes, resulting in discomfort to our passengers and a lack of room for carry-on baggage. To maintain the level of service that our customers expect, we are implementing the following changes: Effective immediately access to our aircraft will be restricted to passengers traveling on a first class or business class itinerary. As a special concession to our valued elite Skymiles members (Platinum Medallion and above), those members will be able to access the aircraft by purchasing an Economy Comfort fare. Economy class passengers will still have access to check-in counters and the gate area. Economy class passengers will still be able to check bags (subject to the existing checked baggage fees) but the bag will be delivered to the baggage claim area in the departure airport. We also remind our Skymiles members that it is Delta's policy to award Skymiles only for segments actually flown. We're sure you will be pleased with this latest enhancement to our service, and look forward to seeing those of you with business or first class itineraries on a future flight.
