Maybe there is a thread like this in the Mileage Run forum, but I thought I'd put something in here for DL flyers too. Please post your MR flights, maybe we can get some others we know to fly with us for company?

I am going to have to do some mileage runs this year, I still need 44k (33k when/if 10k Amex kicks in) for 2012 DM. I booked the following flights, it's not exactly a MR since I have to stay a night... I'm just too old and tired to fly in to a city and turn around and fly back home on the red eye. $250, approx 5800 MQM - maybe not a great MR price, but good enough for me. :p

Ouch, I would hate the 6 am departure from SEA, especially since we're less likely to be upgraded on Alaska. Still, it's lot of miles for the price and the departure and arrival times look pretty convenient.

yea, but I figure I'll do the ambien on the flight out and get lots of sleep... and when my alarm goes off at 3:30am I'll just stumble to the airport and sleep some more! yawn.gif

A few years ago I did a 7am - noon MLB-LAS and 11:30pm - 9am LAS-MLB same day turn and it just about killed me.... and I was 3 years younger then!

I hope you stay close to the airport in a place with 24/7 shuttle service or is there a hotel right at the terminal?

Here you go... if you want one, I am busy that day...
october 5 LGA-CVG-MKE-DTW-LGA (same day) at 3.34 cpm...
The list below is MQM, 125% DM bonus, double miles on AMEX, total miles, cpm (total miles/price).
    BTW- price is $168.

    2086
    2607.5
    336
    5029.5
    0.033403

Can improve on that by doing on the same day SDC from LGA-ATL-MKE instead, and ideally also doing MKE-ATL-LGA instead of DTW. Then you will get 0.0279 cpm. If your goal is a bulk of miles (10K+ in one trip), I can go and optimize a bit more but it has to be INTL (i.e. TATL)
Note: Airlines have to begin collecting taxes again tonight at 12:01am EST...

If you want something in less than 24 hours (actually, 23:37), you can try
LGA-CVG-LAX-OAK-LAX-JFK on oct 5.MQM, 125% DM bonus, double miles on AMEX, total miles, cpm (total miles/price).

    5960
    7450
    649
    14059
    0.023081

If you can get SDC for LGA-ATL-LAX instead of LGA-CVG-LAX you will get MQM, 125% DM bonus, double miles on AMEX, total miles, cpm (total miles/price).

    6182
    7727.5
    649
    14558.5
    0.022289

Got a bit distracted with the papers I am trying to finish, so I took few minutes to play with your question...

I got distracted more, and got the following scary route for you on your dates (9/4):
    MCO-ATL-LGA-CVG-LAX-OAK-LAX-ATL-MCO for 429.

    7192
    8990
    858
    17040

If you do end up taking it, I'll send you a drink voucher. You are going to need it. 23h:43m. I would not do it.
You know what? I'll send you two drink vouchers. Have one for me...
PS- already done DM for 2012. I am starting to think if it is worth the health...

If I did not have to be in the office every now and then...
I am just heading on a short trip- Intra UK, followed by Paris et. al., followed by (hopefully) the TPAC research group meetings.

There are a number of low-end travel hotels/motels just across the street from SEA.

I could always use one out of Atlanta, although I will be in Boston during the last weekend in September and currently searching for something before or after that weekend.

I would need as few as 8,000 Medallion Qualification Miles or as many as 15,000 Medallion Qualification Miles. I have no vouchers to use at this time, so the lowest cost per Medallion Qualification Mile is especially important to me.

Thank you in advance — and I would not mind at all traveling with anyone...

    ...especially Traveller.

Anywhere, as long as the airfare is as low as possible.

I am usually quite good at finding these myself, as to which many on milepoint.com and FlyerTalk can attest, but helpful assistance is always welcome. I also am usually the one who assists others as well.

    Thank you in advance.

IWOULD LEAVE THIS ONE UP... BUT I JUST NOTICE THAT YOU NEED IT BEFORE OR AFTER THE WEEKEND (I THOUGHT DURING...)- Feel free to ignore...

Well, still can improve on that, but it your goal is as close as possible to the 15,000 MQM this would buy you 12,649 MQM at 0.0825 cpm, and assuming you use amex (double miles for each dollar and 100% elite bonuses)- 27,386 miles at 0.038 cpm. I bulit it through Kayak but I was able to get to confirm at delta.com. Priced at Kayak at 1138 but once I got it to delta.com it priced at 1043.90.

You do have to stay in London for Sat. though... but you get a nice BOS-JFK-LHR-AMS-MSP-SLC-OAK-LAX-ATL trip

HND has been cheap. It's the 777 nonstop from both DTW and LAX if you can make the times work, although it reverts to LAX service only at the send of the summer, being replaced by the A330 in the fall. These planes have Y+ as well as quite good AVOD from nose to tail. M fares to HND are considerably less than to/through NRT if you want to splurge and have SWUs to burn.

You are so awesome Canarsie! I'd love to travel with you too!

Why does Kayak quote a price of $488 and when I tell it to book on Delta.com price is $642?

Delta.dumb seems worse than usual today. It had inconsistent info on the arrival date between search-for-flights and a booked itinerary. Also, when I was trying to search for a RT, after picking the outbound, it gave me exactly the same set of flights, in the same direction, for the return. So the RT would have been two one-ways inthe same direction that are linked on the same ticket. Scary.

I am not sure... I think it recognized that you are trying to do a MR. I checked again and it did get me to confirmation window, but it got me there for $544... I did not try to go through the booking in full to see if it goes, though.

I will try a new route search for you... do you have to leave from MCO?

Canarsie, this one can be improved if you can leave a bit early and re-route through LAX but try
    ATL-CDG-DXB-CDG-ATL on 9/23-9/25 using airfrance.us
9.1 cpm for MQM, and assuming you get 100% elite bonus it is 0.0456 cpm for redeemable miles.
You will have a total of three and half hours in dubai. $1397.8
Fare class on AF-T, all mqm, miles and bonus miles eligible on DL.
AF3635 - Economy (delta operated flight, AF #)
    AF3830 - Voyageur Saturday, September 24, 2011
AF3831 - Voyageur (3830 and 3831 use the same plane! so you even get delay coverage!) Sunday, September 25, 2011
    AF682 - Voyageur Sunday, September 25, 2011

Note: calculated on basis of ATL-CDG 4394 and CDG-DXB 3259. So, if I had inaccurate info there, some small adjustment is needed (total 15306mqm slightly above the limit specified. If limit is crucial-aka:rollover issues, new quest is needed)
