While I definately agree that it's important to safely and quickly land at any indication of a possible fire on an aircraft (remembering the tragedy of the Air Canada DC-9 at Cinncinati), still doesn't it seem that there's more and more occurances of smoke in the cockpit and cabins then has been reported in prior years? I'm not just including the B787 battery problems, but more and more so on older, established aircraft of all types.
