Will someone start a "Keep US my US campaign?"
Interesting... An oddly circular development. Being no fan of US and their culture, I was happy that merger attempt fell through. Now--... Well, I'm guessing this is an attempt to keep AA from getting THEIR mitts on US more than a need to consolidate or grow.
I'm not sure there's a risk of AA buying US at this point. US buying AA is on the table though. I think this is delta making sure it knows all its options and that it doesn't get caught out unexpectedly. Besides, US buying AA would put DL into third in size again. DL can't let that happen, can they?
More interesting theory: This is DL's long game play to keep US honest during negotiations over how the two of them should split up the AA assets.
All of this is speculation.
The next thing we'll be hearing is they're going to be taking over either Greyhound or Amtrak or maybe vice vs !
I can't imagine the Shena that would take place if this occurred.
Highly unlikely that Delta and U.S. Airways would merge
I hope you're right.
I can see it now... their nasty staff refusing to give medallions upgrades... all kinds of shena.
No, you're right, but I think I like the potential...
We'd be a little hub-heavy east of the mississippi but downsizing is always an option. My biggest question would be whether Delta really wants to put its feet in the dirty water that is the USA-AW internal dispute that continues to this day???
I don't want any part of this...
Is it too soon to complain about DL's PHL hub being aweful? How about the new MIA hub?
Is TPA - MIA - PHL - LGA*JFK* - CDG a valid routing for my flight to Paris?
* dentoes that my flight arrives into LGA and departs JFK 1 hour later.
Note - I hope none of this is true.
With all the issues of getting the slot swap approved, wouldn't both airlines need more divestitures at LGA and DCA is this gets approved.
This doesn't make any sense from me besides distracting US from their AMR bid.
+1. I didn't want the DL-US hook up when I was a NW PE, and I certainly don't want it now as a CO-UA PE/1K. For that matter, I don't want an AA-US combo either. Fares are ridiculous out of CLT now, and those two getting together would seem like the last nail in the coffin.
As a US flier, I want nothing to do with this. Skypesos, three million elites on every flight, and connecting through ATL...shoot me now.
It will be the only way to get an award ticket at low.
As a DL VFF, I do not want to ride on US or deal with them in any form.
I also do not want to suffer through another merger.
I don't want my 400k+ US miles to turn into Skypesos.
More importantly, i don't want to see more competition reduction.
Agree with this. I like US the way it is (all things considered). I REALLY don't want them geting together with either AA or DL.
