Since 2007 Delta has been painting all of its 729 mainline aircrafts livery of the world famous widget. The final aircraft was painted this week. As for the other NW/DL aircrafts that are in storage, I don't think they will be painted.

Wondering when the last time that Delta had all of it's planes in the same livery? Must be about time to change?

Yes, I think so but I can't think that I have seen any Delta Connection jets not in the new livery lately either.

You mean aside from the Delta Connection CRJ-700 that got a little love tap from the Air France A380 @ JFK a few days ago?

Maybe I should be embarrassed to admit this, but am I the only one who didn't realize the Delta logo was called the "Widget"? I kept reading that headline yesterday and being very confused, wondering if this was a new painting technique...

When I see the word widget, I think of NW's logo.

I confirmed in ATL on Friday that not all of the Delta Connection jets have made the transition to the new livery.

widget is pretty much a generic name for any item that exists. in textbooks you'll see something like " "x" number of widgets are produced..." and so on.

maybe i'm missing something, but the DL livery doesn't seem to be that great. is there a hidden symbol embedded that i'm not seeing (see: FedEx and the hidden arrow, Milwaukee Brewers glove logo that forms an "m" and a "b", etc...)

    Yeah, that was my confusion.

I'm assuming the triangle "widget" came from the Greek delta, so maybe they called it a widget because they wanted something fancier than "triangle" and "The Delta delta" sounded dumb.
