    From dl.com:

    BUY MQMS. EARN MQDS

Still hoping to reach Diamond, Platinum, Gold, or Silver Medallion® status for 2015? Good news—now through December 31, 2014, you can buy between 2,500 and 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) that will post to your 2014 MQM balance and apply toward your 2015 status.

Even better, dollars spent toward purchasing MQMs will also be credited as Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs – U.S.-based members only), which will be posted to your 2014 MQD balance and will also apply toward your 2015 status.

Want to learn what it means to travel for an entire year with Medallion status? Discover the benefits.

MQMs and MQDs will post to your SkyMiles® account within 24 hours of purchase.

    And don’t forget:

    • MQMs purchased will be deposited to your 2014 MQM balance
    • MQMs purchased through this offer are non-refundable
    • Dollars spent toward MQM purchase will apply to your 2014 MQD balance
    • The maximum MQMs that may be purchased for one SkyMiles account for the 2015 Medallion year is 10,000

To me, there are two surprises here:

Money spent also buys MQDs, at a price of one dollar per MQD independent of the number purchased.

The deadline is December 31, so no last chances for someone who finds himself/herself a bit short on January 1.

I guess we can assume that these are personalized or targeted prices.

IIRC, they started a 31 Dec deadline last year and then extended it; of course, this could've been a previous year.

    Definitely looks like personalized prices!

Seems like they won't be selling many as lots of folks will be unable to meet the MQD amount.

Not sure what other's prices were, but the ones they showed me were HIGH. Not happening. Not that I would have anyway, I'd just fly somewhere for less.

Reading Robin's thread about DL MQM buyup with boundless excitement, almost as great as the time when...never mind, not fit for posting... I log on to DL.COM to see what my compadre Mr.Jeff Robbo offers me.

Here it is. This is hard proof that in spite of our differences, DL values the Shark more highly than most of you DM gamers. My offer is ~60% better than @USAF's offer. Of course their predictive logic also estimates "likelihood of purchase." Muahahaha!

Remember that the purchase price counts for MQDs. Some people could view it as purchasing MQDs with additional rollover MQMs as a bonus.

Mrs. G is currently Gold but will drop to zilch next year. She'll be a few thousand short of Silver, we could buy the MQM's for $625.00, but that is steep. Instead I can either gift it to her with my Platinum choice or buy it with skybonus points, either of which is a better value. (If I use skybonus, the PM choice can be a $200 voucher, so that says that using PM choice then her FO status costs me $200 instead of $625).
