Does anyone know when they started letting anyone and everyone with some kind of Elite status into the Tokyo 1K, GS, F line? I flew through there last week and noticed the CO Elite sign inviting any Star Silver and higher to go through the right hand security lane at NRT, they already cut connection times close enough in Tokyo, it seems ridiculous.

Considering that it's ineffectively enforced, that's a tiny little complaint.
Part of the issue is that the person doing the enforcing is (typically) tiny,
little, Japanese, and female. I've recently had good experiences at the
other security line (down the corridor the "wrong" way).

There's a number of places to do an international-international transfer at NRT. Problem is that not all of them are open at the same time, and which ones are seems to vary with no apparent pattern.

There have been times when nobody is present to enforce the line. Or when the lines are so long that it's impossible to even get to the GS/1K/F line.

Then there are the times when not a soul is in line and 5 minutes after getting off the plane I'm able to hop into a shower.

As we're talking UA, the obvious suspects are the two nearest
the UA gates (it may well be possible to find others, but I'm not
that adventurous - or perhaps I don't want to sacrifice much
beer machine time in the investigation). I'm 2/2 this year
using the one at the far end of pier 4. bschaff1 reports worse
    results.

I've noticed recently that, on occasion, the UA representatives have also been directing passengers - irrespective of status - to the "elite" lane for specific flights, obviously because the connection is exceedingly close.
