Does Hilton offer this option where a guest may get points / credit in lieu of the declined housekeeping services?

I know from personal experience that Westin (SPG) offers this and read somewhere that Hyatt seems to have something like this too.

Trying to find some published information on this but has not been successful so far.

    Any recent experiences from anyone?

While SPG offers this choice, I don't think that Hilton does, at least I've never heard of this before, regarding IHG, equally I don't think that's an official policy, of course individual properties might offer it, but not IHG as a whole, at least not just yet. Cheers.

That's fascinating, I believe this property offers this choice as an individual hotel "service", but I haven't heard that the Green Choice is official at IHG in every hotel. Would be nice of course when IHG would / could adopt this practice in the future worldwide so that guest have a choice regarding their green credentials.

Ditto, haven't heard about Hilton in regards on Green Choices. They might bring it into their chain when demand is there and should they observe good responses at their competitors. Would be nice indeed.

SPG offers 500 points, but IHGs 500 points wouldn't be equal to SPGs 500 points. I wonder how many points IHG offers or should offer when guests decline housekeeping during their stay with them?

Staybridge with IHG has a green choice I don't know if they give you points for it,

SPG has Make a Green Choice, but I've never seen the equivalent at a Hyatt.

Do you think Mrs. Gargoyle will give me points at home if I decline to do housekeeping?

    You got that wrong.
If you do not want to do housekeeping, you have to offer Mrs Gargolye Points and Miles. :)

I haven't seen this much but I assume they will abandon the cute seal or polar bear laminated germ magnet cards? You know the ones you that tell you to put it on your pillow (after it's been on the floor of course) so they won't change the sheets. Or the hanging one in the bathroom that tells you that if you hang up your towel they will leave it so you can reuse it but they always just replace it anyway. :)

Hilton will request that you let them know if you want the linen changed but will not compensate. I got 500 StarPoints at W Chicago-Lakeshore some years back for electing to decline housekeeping...

They should offer that with Marriott...tired of them peddling tips with the envelopes.

Remember than 500 Hyatt points are worth less (and require less spend to earn) than 500 SPG points. Ignoring credit cards, for many high level elites, $1 spent at a hotel equals 3 SPG points versus more than 5 (IIRC 5 + 30%) Hyatt points. Another comparison is that at full service properties, the SPG Plat welcome amentiy is 500 points but it's 1000 points for a Hyatt Diamond (assuming you don't opt to take one of the other choices, such as free continental breakfast at Starwoods).

I took Starwood up on their offer with a 4 night stay in Ann Arbor, MI. The 1500 SPG points helped build back my balance for my next trip!

Toyoko Inns offer a 10-20% discount for reduced housekeeping. The percentage varies according to location.

Sorry I don't remember how many points, the offer was only for one day and valid only for a stay of at least two days

As expected from Hilton, I don't believe they offer such a choice just yet. Thanks for the update. :)

I really don't know why more hotels don't do it. I see this as a complete win-win for the hotel, guest, and environment. I generally don't like / need housekeeping every day and would happily do without.
