This could be an interesting opportunity for those who are close to 1MM or 2MM thresholds, especially on light of the rumored program changes.

Anyone who puts money on an AA credit card buys miles at 2 cents apiece every day, since they are forgoing earning a rebate from a 2% cash back card.

They've also already got a 20% BuyAAMiles sale going on if you buy more than 20k, so is this is really only a 10% discount.

I'm waiting for one of the regulars to post that they're flying in business or first internationally for only xxx dollars with this 40,000 mile top-off opportunity. ;)

Me too. Risk/benefit analysis is tantalizing: That sale could be better than the current 30% off. OTOH, it could come after the MM changes are announced and may not count towards LT status.

AA had last minute flights from LGA to DFW for $1,000 one way per seat. They also had 12,500 one way award seats available for the same flights. We purchased the miles.

If you have the AA credit card, they may have reduced mileage awards. I recently checked, and they had LGA/IAH for 17k R/T.

Sadly these are only available domestically. If it was international too I'd be all over it.

Never knew this. Do you have to call Citi or AA directly?
