Now we are talking! This is the kind of prize a true airline sweep should have! Unlike those stinky economy seats CX offers as their "grand prizes"

    $12,540 x 30%* income tax rate = $3,762

And that is just for starters.:eek:

The "wrong" winner  might have to decline the award, with the award going to an alternative winner, and on and on, maybe. :D

Ouch! I wish they'd have just offered 330K RDM instead, which is what such an award is worth in miles.

I'd like to see some MilePointers step up to the plate, and suggest some itineraries, and with which carriers, for this contest. :)

This is a nice compliment to the 30,000 miles prize.

Damnit why don't they eat the taxes? :)

I think Delta or someone else was running a contest recently with a 5 figure ARV and they were covering the taxes. All these companies should do that, even if they give away "less extravagant" prizes.

It's like you win, plus you get a bill for winning. :)

This is definitely the fly in the ointment, but still the purpose is to enjoy yourself in a vacation and not some crazy MR. :)

They're offering the standard 50,000 mile oneworld award that you can get with AA miles, so you can see some examples of trips at this link. I'm leaving on my first oneworld award in just over a month, and I'm very excited about it. I'm doing:

ORD-LHR on AA First Class (STOP)
    LHR-HKG on CX First Class
HKG-FUK on KA Business Class (STOP)
    FUK-TPE-HKG on CX Business Class
HKG-SIN-CMB on CX Business Class (STOP)
CMB-SIN on CX Business Class (STOP)
SIN-SYD on QF First Class A380 (STOP)
    SYD-LAX on QF First Class
LAX-ORD on AA First Class (STOP)

This wasn't the highest level redemption option though, so the prize actually gives you more flexibility. I'm gonna poke around and see if I can find a "dream trip" option. And post again. I love planning Oneworld award! :D

I'm sure they would still send you a 1099 for an ARV of $8050 (2.5 cpm) if you won that hypothetical prize :(.
