Concur Study Reveals Most Stressful Airports for U.S. Travel

With the holidays just around the corner, airports across the U.S. will soon enter the busiest travel period of the year for all travelers. A new survey* from Concur reveals the most hassle-free airport in the country is Dallas-Fort Worth, whilst Chicago O’Hare, followed closely by Los Angeles International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport topped the list for being most stressful.

With all the hassles associated with business travel, making it through the airport can be a major undertaking. Between long check-in lines, and even longer security checkpoints, road warriors have pinpointed exactly what makes an airport stressful.

The majority of respondents (56 percent) found the vastness between gates and terminals to be the biggest challenge at Chicago O’Hare, while nearly half (49 percent) agreed John F. Kennedy International Airport presents some of the longest lines. Other leading factors of stress at airports across the country included:

    · Confusing airport signage (28 percent)
    · Poor service from airport staff (28 percent)
    · Not enough or crowded bathrooms (19 percent)

With travelers more reliant on technology than ever, it’s no surprise that poor Wi-Fi coverage (19 percent) and an insufficient amount of electrical outlets (18 percent) were also cited as common complaints for those looking to make the most of their time between flights.

They selected 1,500 people who travel regularly for this survey -- but what the article doesn't say is how many airports they go to each year, or how often they go to each one. I've probably been to 40 or 50 airports over the years and as a rule find the small town ones, such as FNT. CID, MLI, TVC orders of magnitude easier to use than any of the 'big' ones.

I'm less than impressed with most surveys including this one.

Surveys in general are silly unless you get respondents who really know the alternatives instead of a
mix of boosters and haters who are familiar mostly with their own stomping grounds.
