Been waiting for weeks for today to come so I could book some FC flights on Cathay. Check this morning and a big warning that they have switched to a new computer systems and there are "teething pains"! Sure enough, called AA and they can't book Cathay right now.

I've done this a lot and never run into this nonsense before. I'll be mighty ticked off if it comes back online and the seats are gone!

    Live by the computer.........

Ouch. There seems to be an epidemic now of airline computer systems taking major vacations from being able to book awards and upgrades. Somehow they seem to retain the ability to sell tickets for money.

We are becoming so dependent on technology that it is scary.

This is the new Cathay computer system and the man responsible.
Why not send him a telegraph message and explain your dissatisfaction? :D

Don't forget the ability of first downgrading booked F award segments down to J.

    Then...to lose the entire booking!

At least BA still shows my CX award ressie. Now if only, CX would pick up the phone....

Well, the latter is more important to the airline's health, so it can hardly be a surprise that it's prioritised.

Please let us know how things shake out for you and what you do to fix everything...My wife and I are in a similar situation: we are not able to pull up our reservation on the CX website though everything still looks hunky dory on the BA website.

BA assures me that everything is fine, but I haven't been able to get through to CX; I wish the US call centre had later hours, particularly during such a difficult period!
