CX R class?

I'm planning to fly CX premium economy to China next year, and CX's website give me outbound on R and inbound on E. But on AS's website CX's premium economy classes are W, E & T. R class is not eligible for any earnings.

For double check I checked AA's and BA's websites, they both listed CX's premium economy classes as W, R & E, which makes much more sense. Paid long haul premium economy doesn't earn any miles makes no sense to me.

Is CX recently changed R class to paid premium economy and AS is just not up to date yet? Or is there something more complex here? This really freaked me out.

Very interesting find. What is more telling is the CX mileage chart:

    http://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...advisories/fare-family-and-booking-class.html

It shows R class as a flexible fare, but E as a standard. This makes it even less sense that AS wouldn't give miles for that fare. Hopefully the AS chart is just out of date but you may want to send an email on it. (I would do that over calling and talking to an agent). At the end of the day though AS can unfortunately decide whatever they want on which fares earn and which don't.

Yeah, sent an email, but that takes "5-7 business days" to get a reply :(

Another finding is for short-haul without premium economy service, CX give me B on outbound, which is supposed to be full fare economy. But again AS listed full fare economy classes as Y, H & K, and both AA & BA listed full fare economy classes as Y, B & H. At least B is not in AS's no earning list this time...

Just got the reply from AS today:

Which is the same as their website. Not helpful.

Call a CS person IMHO. Or see if you can get a forum rep to confirm. Probably on FT.

Crazy that a full-fare premium economy ticket would get you nada. What a shame! :-(

With AS for all or just for a one time exception?
