    Hello there -

I'm in Y for an HKG-YYZ flight an continually looking for F availability. Right now, the flight shows F4 in February. Does anyone have insight to how CX releases availability to partners?

    Thanks

IMO CX has cut back on F availability on the YYZ flight (actually one of the flights is supposed to be operated by equipment w/o F), F availability on ORD flights seem to be more plentiful now - can you do HKG-ORD-YYZ?

Interestingly, I was able to get 2 F awards on the outbound and only 1Y and 1F on the return. HKG-ORD was unavailable and now would trigger a reprice (I believe) at the higher BA redemption rates.

I guess I'll jut have to check daily.

All YYZ flights will still have F for the entire February - the month the OP is travelling. The non-F configuration with J/Y+/Y (77G) won't debut for the route until March.

If they do release more award seats, CX in general tends to open them as you approach closer to the departure date.

switching from Y to F won't trigger a reprice? So you already paid for F roundtrip but fly in Y on your return? Not even J

I just did a test tonight - it seems like CX release more awards in F about 2 weeks before the flight - I'm trying for mid-Jan trip myself.

I have 2 J seats (ORD-HKG) booked for Dec and am hoping F availability opens up...I am assuming that they may be repriced under the new scheme though...in which case I will be happy with J, given that F just went up by 30K miles each way!

I'm not booked currently and will be using AA miles so pricing hasn't changed - we used up the BA miles for ORD-BKK RT for 2 in F booked in June.

    Nope - three one-way awards.

F+J on the outbound for 2
J+F on the inbound for her
J+Y on the inbound for me.

Y to F will reprice, but still at the old rate :) To clarify, all changes to itineraries booked before nov 16 apply at pre nov 16 prices.

Can anyone help me check what the F load is like for CX 827 on Dec 2?

    Leaving YYZ at 2:15 pm.

    Wow... Thanks, KVS Tool!

I am really a newbie... What does CS9 and YS9 stand for?

9 or more seats in Business and Economy. FS = First, CS = Business, YS = Economy. The #9 is the highest it can go up to so it can be more than 9 as well.

    Thanks, KVSTool, and Jimgotkp!

This is getting interesting... So, there is F availability for CX 827 on Dec 2, but CX just have not released them into the award bucket.

I used to read on TOBB about how there is availability but it's not released into the award bucket.

This is a concrete example of what that is meant exactly. I learn something new every day. :D

These are the things that stress me out (life can't be that bad, eh?)...FS1 for HKG-JFK but still only YS9 on HKG-YYZ, where the GF is in F. Either need FS2+ on HKG-JFK or FS1 on HKG-YYZ - game on!

So when does CX go all C/Y+/Y on YYZ-HKG? I'm still seeing F award availability into Oct 2012. Will they keep operating one of the flights with F or is there likely to be an equipment swap/downgrade?

I know there is a frequency downgrade to 10x weekly from 14x weekly during summer, but I couldn't find any indication of reduction of seats.

See here regarding F and overall frequency reduction of the route. Whether they decide to completely eradicate F for this market or not and when it is to take place (if it does), only time will tell.

Whats the best way to check if there is any space opened up to partners online? I am AA, and looking for award space on CX F from ORD-HKG. I dont want to call AA EXP desk every day asking the same question. I have expertflyer, but just tells me how many total availability is in F booking codes, but not all of them are necessarily open to partners right?

Several non-AA airline websites will show you CX award availability. I find that the most reliable for AA access to CX awards is the JL website, you'll need to sign up for a mileage account with them. However, availability also shows on the BA site (though available seats won't always show, eg when BA metal availability trumps) and on the QF site (though it can be prone to occasional phantom availability, and will especially appear available when there's a connecting itinerary and only the connection and not the flight you want is available in the class of service you're looking for).

There's always, of course, AwardNexus.com that screen scrapes these same web sites and is free to FT users. You only get a limited amount of points (that can be refilled) so you might as well exhaust that method while you're at it.

Thanks everyone. Using AwardNexus, I was very easily able to find space for dates that worked for me (good thing I am flexible on my dates) and I have now booked the seat! I am so excited!
