Planning a trip to China next year. While in HKG I would like to get over to Hanoi for a few days. Ideally I would like to fly HKG-HAN-PVG since I am returning home from Shanghai.

I see CX1791 HKG-HAN but operated by Vietnam Airlines and return Dragonair HAN-HKG then HKG-PVG also dragonair.

Would my AA miles be eligible for this type of trip?

    Appreciate the help

    Not on the VN-operated segment.

Ok, good to know. There is one early flight a day operated by Dragonair - earlier than I wanted but it will be a good savings to use the miles. Glad to know I can use Dragonair..Thanks for your very prompt reply

Try to use avios for those flights since it only costs 4500 o/w....
