A couple who spent their wedding night at New York's Waldorf-Astoria are spending their 60th anniversary at the hotel for the 1952 price of $16.80.

Isidore Schwartz, 88, and his wife, Joan, 82, said they are taking advantage of a service offered by the Waldorf to spend their 60th anniversary at the hotel this weekend for the same price they paid on their honeymoon, $16.80 per night, the New York Daily News reported Thursday.

"I'm going to see if anything looks familiar," said Schwartz, of East Lyme, Conn.
The couple said they are excited to get a steep discount from the Waldorf's current per-night prices, which start at $319.

Too bad the hotel hasn't spent a single dollar on capex since they got married. Heck, if he left a sock behind the chair in his room on his honeymoon, it's probably still there.

I do wish the happy couple many more years together...

Only thing more amazing than the rate they are getting is the fact they are still together 60 years later.
    Many blessings to them!

    Moral of the story

    1. Get married young
    2. Stay at a WA despite the cost.
    3. To realize the full value of the WA bill, bear with your s/o for 60 years.

On a serious note, congrats to the couple. Hope they are getting night/stay credits and have registered for the current Hilton promotion of 5000 point for weekend stays.

If this guy really loved his wife, he'd take her to the Elysian Waldorf Chicago.

It's so funny, a few years ago staying here I mentioned it to my grandmother and it elicited really fond memories ("your grandfather took me there in 195X and we had such a lovely suite..."). This place holds a special place for many, but it isn't that place anymore. The lobby is an absolute ZOO, so many of the rooms are tiny, it's basically a full service Hilton that's still reasonably nice for the Hilton chain in New York. But it is not a luxury hotel.

Unfortunately it seems to cater to tour groups now, which adds to the zoo like feel of the beautifully restored historic lobby.
