Delta and American Airlines have both announced new flights today. One, a new seasonal service from Atlanta to the Caribbean and the other to Asia from Dallas.

    Delta New Seasonal From Atlanta

Delta will operate a new daily seasonal flight between Atlanta and Port-au-Prince Haiti. The flight will depart Atlanta at 11:15 am and arrive into Haiti at 2:46 pm. The return flight from Haiti will depart at 12:55 pm and arrive into Atlanta at 4:00 PM. The flight will begin June 5, 2014 and run seasonally through August 18, 2014.

The flight will be operated by a 737-800 aircraft with 160 seats.

The schedule on this makes me wonder. If the flight arrives into Haiti at 2:45 pm and the return flight leaves at 12:55 pm, what will they do with the plane that lands at 2:46 pm? Will it sit in Haiti overnight, is the intention there to perhaps have another plane nearby in case of a mechanical or will the plane continue on somewhere. The flight from Haiti to New York leaves at 2:00 pm, so not sure that is where it is going.

American Airlines New Dallas to Hong Kong and Shanghai

American Airlines announced the addition of two new flights today. One from Dallas to Hong Kong and the other from Dallas to Shanghai. The Hong Kong flight will be operated by the 777-300 ER plane while Shanghai flight will be operated by the 777-200 plane. The service will be a daily flight starting on June 11, 2014.

    Bottom Line

New flights to Asia for American Airlines from Dallas and a new seasonal flight to the Caribbean for Delta from Atlanta.
