So next time the restaurant has "Snapper thighs" on the menu I should probably be suspicious right?

Back in 1993, while still in Russia, I had some horrendous food poisoning from fake Fanta. It was another 15 years before I tried the drink as well.

As far as alcohol, getting the real Armenian cognac (brandy, for the pedants among us) or real Georgian wine has been a pain in the... stomach.

Hmmm, that might explain why my recent in-flight Biscoff cookie was imprinted "FELTA" ;)

No, but you will realize that you accidentally entered the "Gentleman's Club" right next to the Red Lobster.

As someone who can get very ill from accidental glutening, I very much worry about counterfeit foods. :(

Hell, I don't even use generic ibuprofen.

Indeed, the issue of counterfeit food is a growing problem around the world, from alcohol, baby food to as in your case medicines. A sad reality, it's most likely connected to organized crime and in the end every consumer has to pay for it in some way or another.

It's not that medicines are counterfeit necessarily, it's that I can't guarantee there isn't gluten in generics. So counterfeit ibuprofen may be very, very bad for me. (One reason I always pack my own meds.)

I remember being concerned about namebrand toothpaste sold in China when there was some scandal about Colgate beign counterfeit.

OTOH, we have the case of Delta's deliberate fake cheese in their SkyClubs. Some of this stuff is still being offered in some lounges, although with pita chip pieces/crumbs rather than cracker pieces and crumbs.

    This doesn't sound too inviting.

That's a concern IMHO now around the world too.

Here it is more about the ingredients used in the formulation of generic drugs, and reassurance that the ingredients used are correctly labeled.
