Could Milepoint have an app like Foursquare only for Milepoint members?

In other words, when I'm at ORD, I could "check in" and other Milepoint members could send me a text, invite me into the Admiral's Club ("Thanks so much!"), commiserate over a beer on some recent bad experience, or all of the above.

I think it would be kinda cool and create an exclusivity to the site that would keep members more proprietary and, yet at the same time, more congenial as we get to know each other and why we love to fly and have status.

I think a MilePoint app for check-ins would be great!

You just beat me to this, I was thinking during my MR last weekend how useful it would be.

I like it. And guess what, easy to make ;)

Excellent idea that would increase interaction within the Community.

Great idea and could help you run in the other direction when some members check-in near you![IMG][IMG]

With a feature that enables you to post how many people you can guest in. [IMG]

Since Milepoint is not adding a check-in app in the near future, what do people think of connecting on Foursquare?
    Downside? Thoughts?

I have spent the last week at a geography conference talking about LBS and this need to check in everywhere. I know we can all make our checkins private, but honestly, there is such an issue with privacy and safety, why would you want to?

It could be fun and maybe a cool way to meet other milepoint people on the road. Privacy is always a concern and you have to assume that anything you post on facebook / foursquare, etc., public or private can be viewed by just about everyone. Because of that, just about the only places I do check in now are airports or places where I travel because I wont be there very long and no one can really gain any personal information from that other than the fact I like to travel (which I am happy to share btw). I never check in at home or places I frequent near my home.

true "integration" with facebook would allow for this.....but alas, does not seem to be happening....would be nice though.

I don't think an app is completely necessary. However, a partnership with FourSquare and/or Facebook would be great. Add an option to MP's alert or contact detail information to let "followers" know where you are. Do we really need another location based app?

This is why you really need to know who your friends are - and their character.

Some people love to "over share".
