Saw these when I walked in to Costco today. I sought out the warehouse manager to see if I could read the T&C on these cards. He knows me personally since I cleaned him out of Hyatt gift certs on a regular basis for about a year. :D

He said they got the cards about a week ago, but didn't receive POS for them until Thursday. The cards have a face value of $300, and can be purchased for $269. Needless to say, I couldn't resist clearing out a decent chunk of their stock.

The T&C on the back read as follows:

Use this Gift Card towards the purchase of air travel on American Airlines, American Eagle, AmericanConnection, oneworld airlines, and AA Code-Share flights. Itineraries must be purchased and originating in the U.S., Puert Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands.

Gift cards are redeemable only at www.aa.com or by calling AA Reservations at 800-433-7300
Note: tickets purchased through AA Reservations are charged a Reservations Fee which must be paid by debit or credit card.

A maximum of (8) Gift Cards may be redeemed per reservation.

You may check your card's balance at www.aa.com/giftcard

Gift Cards do not expire and have no dormancy, service, maintenance or other fees.

The Gift Card has no value until activated at time of purchase.

This Gift Card has no implied warranties and is not a credit or debit card. Terms and Conditions are applied to Gift Card-see www.aa.com/giftcard.

I bought a stack in Danville (East Bay) when they were first available there a few weeks ago. It was one of two Bay Area locations with the cards. Where did you get them?

Leesburg, VA. I formally claim that Costco as my own personal AA gift card domain. :D

This has been talked about for some time on TOBB. Does anyone have color as to if/when these will be rolled out nationally?

Coupled with the 2% annual rebate from Costco, this is 12% off most AA travel. That's a good deal for anyone who is thinking of flying AA!

Interesting that they're rolling this out piecemeal. I'm a hardcore Costco guy, and these were not out 3 days ago when I was there. I made the mistake of maxing out the 2% rebate with Hyatt certs last year. Won't make that mistake again.

$500 per account. But, if you have multiple businesses, you can have multiple accounts. If the AA program stays in place, I'm pretty sure I'll end up getting a second account this year, with all the other business and personal purchases.

Don't forget to figure in credit card miles, or cash credit card rebates. I know some have cash rebates as high as 5%. If you don't have an Amex that is getting a good deal, buy the Costco Gift Cards online with a Visa/MC, and then use those in store to buy the AA GC.

I didn't quite max out my Costco $500 rebate last year, but came pretty close with all the Hyatt certs I bought.

I didn't include these because presumably you'd get the same benefits on your card buying the tickets directly from AA. I don't think, but am not sure, that any cards have a Costco kicker.

Is $500 the max rebate for all membership types at Costco?

I was in Costco in Marina Del Rey yesterday and did not see them. Definitely a good deal if you are already planning on flying AA but given no status with them, would be borderline for me.

576515. Sometimes they show up on line under "what's new" at an individual warehouse. San Francisco, for instance, has them listed under sporting goods right now. Danville, where I got mine, doesn't list them at all now, but they're no longer new there.

They wouldn't be a new item for Danville, though,as I bought mine there a few weeks ago. You should be able to call them and ask if they're still in stock.

Sunnyvale and Redwood City show them listed.

Try this search from TOBB as it seems to list all the stores with the cards:

Both the South San Francisco (El Camino) and the Sunnyvale stores have the cards. The checkout clerk today in Sunnyvale asked me how the cards worked.

The Sunnyvale store is only 10 min from my office. If I have to buy a plane ticket while they are carrying the cards, I'll probably put it on hold, run over and buy a bunch of gift cards, and then go back to the office to redeem them!

They are available at South Orlando Costco on Waterbridge Blvd. I picked up 15 of them this evening. According to the manager, they have quite a few left in stock.

Same here. If UA and Costco offered them, I'd be raiding the local Costcos.

Just used my first card on SMF-ABQ at $140+ for late August. Now that AA has SMF-LAX running they can offer routes like this to compete against WN. You'd never see this when they only had SMF-DFW service.
