A friend of mine, a former CO flyer, e mailed me to tell me that she lost all her miles from inactivity.

Is UA still letting people pay a price to restore their expired miles?

What a coincidence.... Im was about to start a new thread on this. So then, if your miles expired due to non activity and that happened over 3/4 years ago, you are basically toast, or....? I just logged in to my Mileage Plus account after about 3 years or so of not bothering to.... of course my current balance is ZERO.... it was weird seeing that my lifetime mileage balance is almost 600,000........

I cant even remember how many miles I had when I let this program just die..... is there any way to get UA to do a forensic analysis and know if I should even bother...?

Probably, but are you sure they expired that long ago??

Call and ask. At worst you are in the same position you are in right now, minus a few minutes on the phone.

Then they were in the old UA system which no longer is in use. I'd skip the call and have another glass of wine.

Just received this e mail from my friend...
Thank you. I actually discovered it was an error on their part because they mistakenly didn't count the one United flight I did take this year!
Going forward, I'm going to switch back to a chase united MasterCard - apparently depositing miles that way counts as activity.

The real question is how come my non-travel friends only pay attention when they need something. If she was listening to me over the years, she wouldn't have gotten in this mess.
