Last flight departing with CO code. CO1267 from PHX to CLE is scheduled to depart at 11:59pm local time on March 2nd

Based on this, I know a couple of us have booked the flight -- anyone else going?

That was for the SOC, yes, but until 3/3, there are still Continental flight numbers. The above information came from UAInsider on FT.

Yes, I am. Seat 21A, though I will be a day-of decision as to whether I can make the trip or not.

And, while all flights have been using the UA call sign for ATC purposes there are still plenty which are also CO-marketed on the customer side right now. That disappears on 3/3. The PHX flight is the last to depart with a CO code in the gate area; the NRT-EWR flight will be the last to land.

Must say makes me a touch nostalgic. Going to miss CO and OP. Not to say I don't look forward to the future, but as a Red Tail Refugee, the best strategic partnership in the legacy world was NW-CO. That's how you do it.:)

The NW/KL joint venture was pretty good too.

Even better, in a way, were the days of the CO-NW and CO-HP partnerships, with complimentary elite upgrades across the board with all of those partners. Not that HP was ever that great, but if you had to fly them someplace out West that neither CO nor NW served, doing so in the front cabin was a decent experience.

I used that HP partnership to fly up front JFK-LAS one trip in 1999 or 2000, I think. It was a very nice benefit for no extra effort on my part.

As for the nostalgia, I don't really have much in the sense that I know it doesn't matter. But if I can show up in PHX and make a party out of it then I most certainly will try. :D

Seeing the code disappear off flights really isn't a big deal to me. The CO that so many here remember fondly and go on and on about really hasn't existed in about a decade. Likewise, the really great days on UA are at least 10 years in the past as well.

A red eye? To Cleveland? I can't imagine why this would be a good use of my time and money. Sorry.

So if I am booked on a flight after March 3 that currently has a CO flight number, does that mean I will get some kind of notice that it has changed?

You will likely receive a notification of a schedule change with the new flight number being coded UA, not CO.
It absolutely is not. But I figured for 25K points and a few hours out of my life I may as well have some fun.

Red eye to Cleveland? It would have had to have been the last flight on Concorde to get me out for that!

Sorry, my semantic analyzer core-dumped when it tried to interpret the "fun" word in the context of "red eye" :D

My loyalty to CO dates from the EA-CO days, but then I worked for EA briefly.

Given the issues with the Concorde at the end, I think I'd rather fly the red eye to Cleveland (and I'm the person with the Concorde luggage tag, too).

I flew about 30 days before it ended.

What issues? Mechanical reliability was never great...but it didn't spike abnormally at the end.

No, it didn't, but I think we were learning more about metal fatigue and that became an increasing concern, especially for an aircraft that flexed more visibly than most.

Why would you want to subject yourself with going to Cleveland?
