Maybe the airport maps have not been updated, but it seems like United is still operating out of A1 and the CO flights are out of C. Is that really the case?

If so, will you have to re-do security? The map does indicate shuttle and train transfers but not clear if you would have to clear security.

With the exception of the UA 763s to ZRH and AMS all UA ops are still at A1. There is a bus between C71 and A that does not require re-clearing security. To get to the UA gate you might have to take a second bus from A2 to A1 but it is all air-side.

I'd leave at least 60 and probably closer to 90 minutes to make the connection. It can be done a tiny bit faster but not much and rarely easily.

There are some CO Express and CO Connection flights out of A as well. Mainline CO flights are out of C, as Wandering Aramean described.

Thanks. Kind of surprised they've not moved the gates considering it is a hub.

I agree with you. Was really shocked when I came in on a recent UA flight with a tight train connection and realized I was in A!

I have done this connection in less than 15 minutes but YMMV on the Bus timing and weather that day...

OTOH, UA only flies to ZRH/BRU not AMS out of EWR at this time...

That is quite the swing: a bus ride that can take anywhere from 60-90 minutes to 15 minutes :)

Sounds like a heckuva bus ride.

The bus ride takes less than 10 minutes. In all actuality it's a hair over 5, but occasionally you get held up due to traffic on the ramp. The buses seem to wait about 5 minutes before being dispatched. All in, plan on 15 min. for the bus.

If you're connecting from A to C, assuming your flights are on-time (ha!) you'll be fine with a 50+ minute connection.

UACO sells some intra-A connections that require the bus with just a 30 minute connection.

Which pisses me off knowing this is fully impossible for non-savvy fliers... =)

They need the additional gate space and also do not want to give it up to potential competitors. Not too surprising, really.

And I mixed up BRU/AMS above.

Which does include giving them gate space.
