There is a 10+ hour (and counting) "scheduled maintenance" on CO computers and amongst other things, you can't login to your account from the website.

But it is also effecting things like checking in to flights from your iPhone app

I don't know if I would characterize it as a, "woe" so much as part of the process to migrate to a single IT platform for the merged carrier. I could understand some frustration if airport ops were also affected, but I have not seen anything to that effect.

Right - not being able to check-in via your mobile device is for 11 hours (and counting) is nothing to get worked up about

A significant but not life shattering period of customer facing IT functionality disruption is inevitable when conducting large scale data migrations and revisions to programs. This is the perfect time to perform such activities as we are in one of slowest travel periods of the year for another 10 days or so before the busiest two weeks in commercial aviation get underway.

Yeah, but on Sunday night, right before business travelers take to the skies? Why not Saturday at 1am?

No, it really isn't. There are plenty of other avenues available for check-in.
They have data on how often and when their website is used. My assumption is they chose a period with lower activity levels, though I don't know that for sure. As Heathrow Guy noted, this is typically the period of lower travel, and they're trying to get all of this done in the next four months.

Its not uncommon for companies to have an unscheduled/unexpected outage and to classify it as planned maintenance to their customers so customers don't realize there is a bigger issue. Some how I have a hard time believe the timing of this. As others mentioned, late at night Saturday night would be much better.

If their data tell them that Monday morning (as the site is still down) is a period with lower activity levels than any period on a Saturday or Sunday, then I seriously question the accuracy of said data. I get the whole lower travel period in general between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but Monday morning? I'm more inclined to go with SFOtoORD's explanation.

Most companies would announce a major planned outage of a customer-facing site well in advance. Our own company has several client-facing sites/portals and we are given "talking points" when there are unexpected outages, but we ALWAYS notify them of planned outages.

And "Planned outage" messages typically also indicate when users can expect the system to be available again, because, well, it's planned.

Well, the website is back up. Was able to log in, but when I call the OnePass Service Center to speak to them yet again about an ongoing partner mileage request that started over 5 months ago, they said their systems are down and don't know when they'll be back up. I'm guessing that it was an unplanned outage.

The maintenance window was, in fact, scheduled. It ran longer than originally expected and that part certainly was unscheduled/unexpected, but the initial work was not.

There seemed to be a baggage check issue at IAH this morning. Any idea if this was related to the outage?

Also, the boarding pass scanner was down so they were doing the boarding process by manually entering the sequence number.

The .3 EQS appears only on the summary page. If you click to view account detail and check the "OnePass Activity Since Last Statement" screen the .3 EQS is not showing.
