On another forum, we had a concept of "candy for the crew week".

I'd like to offer an additional suggestion. On your next flight, or every flight from now on, pay attention to something that the crew does very well and compliment him/her/them for it. Maybe you already do this. Cool! Keep on doing it. ;)

Personally, I tend to thank the SD at the end of each flight for the great service (assuming the service was great, which it usually is).

I'm going to make a point of complimenting other members of the crew for their service. Maybe they were really friendly. Maybe they went above and beyond. Maybe they did something amazing. I think that if AC staff feel appreciated by their customers, it can only foster better service in the future.

On my overseas trips I have been for the longest while been getting two sets of "treats" for the AC crew (front and back cabins regardless of where I am sitting). They seem to appreciate it, it makes me and them feel good, and they enjoy a little something on their breaks. I am not waiting for a candy week or whatever, I do it ever overseas trip I do (which so far this year has been a few :)).

BTW I always compliment a crew member if they do something nice or out of the ordinary. That is what we should all be doing, not waiting for a real special occasion. It makes all the difference and they deserve it.

Last year, I took part in the candy for the crew week. Thought it was a wonderful idea and went and bought boxes of Rogers chocolates for two segments... YVR---YYZ and then YYZ ---LHR.
These are lovely chocolates ( I bought the Victoria Creams ) for about $70 a box.

The crew on the first segment out of YVR were so sweet and kind and really seem to like the gesture and the chocs. Actually watched them eat some.

When on the second segment, I presented the box of chocs with a thank you card to the SD and he seemed like he could care less. He said, yes he had heard about the candy for the crew week, took the chocolates and immediately put them into his bag in the storage cupboard. They never came out again that flight. Maybe he was going to share them with his crew at some hotel in London ??

Anyways, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Since then I have made a point of giving treats to the crew when several are gathered in the galley area after meals. I want to be sure that they all get to enjoy them and the SD doesn't keep them all for himself.

Just my experience, and I could be very wrong.

I gave the Toblerones to the crews of AC7 YYZ-YVR last month and got superb service as a result.

That's a good idea -- whether galley or otherwise, choose a moment when there are at least two crew members there.

I fly AA and have always wanted to do gifts (I always do lots of "thanks" and smiles and chit chat, plus AAs certs when i have a great crew). Thanks for the reminder, I will bring some candy with me this week. :D

Remember both front and back crews ... I find it can help if you are sitting in the back and getting "thanks" from the front ;)

You can't share those very easily, so you'd need to bring one for each crew member ...

I really like the Victoria Creams from Rogers because each chocolate is individually wrapped inside of the box.
Unfortunately, this product is only available in BC ( I think )

And the need to have the same $$$$ value to each card to level out the playing field. [IMG]

Of course the crew can't exactly check the balance during the flight! :)

You were a regular "Good Samaritan" today!

Well done (a like was not enough).

Overall had a "good" crew on AC739 on Sunday. Nothing special nor extraordinary to write home about but overall good hard working crews in executive serving us. Now if those crews have a "like" here that I can click on, then I'd be more than happy to oblige. [IMG]

I had two recent flights where i gave some candy to the crew. I think it's a great idea. In both cases it was well received but more so for a flight crew that was about to start their third flight of the day. It was great to see the genuine gratitude because they were tired.

As i don't get to travel much this is going to be something i try to do more often than not.

I did think about that -- but I figured the chocolates are all about the crew, and not about me! :)

Handed out some nice Morinaga chocolates to a great (and grateful) crew on AC008 yesterday, along with the MilePoint note I used earlier. Anyone else?
