"Complimentary" Breakfast for me is pretty important.
Besides being the most important meal of the day, it helps saves me a lot of money.

While elites might get free breakfast or lounge access at some chains / brands, not everyone is an elite. There are also times when one failed to re-qualify or am in an area that there are no availability etc. Whatever the reasons, here's a list of hotels that comes packaged with breakfast from their most basic room and for every customers who may have just walked right up.

Enjoy the information and please help contribute to the list.
    Thanks!

Good list, thank you. Indeed, it's important at certain times to have access to a complimentary breakfast, as you pointed out not everyone is an elite. Another question now would be, which chain / brands offers the "best" breakfast for free each morning? Cheers.

My vote goes to Embassy Suites or La Quinta. Even though many don't like LQ, I have never been disappointed with the rooms or Breakfast at LQ. (sometimes the location might be sketchy, but the property is always good)

(edited because I typed KW rather than LQ.)

Yeah. Especially when doing leisure trips with family for a few days... the cost adds up quickly.
How does a thread becomes a "master thread" / Sticky etc?
Of course not sure if this thread's information even qualifies the status :)
I am certainly making it non-biased towards any particular chains.
In fact, the free breakfast thing is likely more meaningful to most for hotels not on their usual chain where they might already have elite status

That could be another thread but it is hard to say.
When on Business trips, I just want to fill my stomach.
On Leisure trips, I want to savour the breakfast :)

Marriott Fairfield Inn is missing. Your also missing all the low end "motels" like Super 8.

Drury Inn's are somewhat limited locations but they have very good breakfast and evening cocktail hours as well.

However many of the low end hotels only have a "continental" breakfast with danish and juice.

I actually stayed at a Super 8 that the manager cut the Otis Spunkmeyer Danish in quarters to save money.

HI Express in the UK or USA is usually rubbish more like McDonalds (or worse)

Hong Kong (Causeway Bay) was "hands down" the most horrible

however in Lisbon, Quito and a few other places I have eaten a fabulous breakfast at HIEX

what I most want is a variety of fresh (not canned) fruit, nice bread or baked goods and a decent grade of coffee

Breakfast is also the cheapest meal of the day, I will not eat some crap offering just because it is free, will just head up the road and buy some if that is an option

I found the breakfast served at the HI Express at SFO was ok with me, better than that served at the HI Express in London

HIX breakfast is usually nothing to write home about but it's not THAT bad for a quick free breakfast. They usually have oatmeal and some fresh fruit. Plus if you get this in a super expensive city it can be well worth the trouble. The main thing I like about HIX breakfast is that it's quick and free. I know it's not brunch at The Palace in San Francisco but it's F-R-E-E :)

Actually, many of the chains hotels are sometimes franchises, and hence the quality is all over the map. I have been spoilt by the array and quality of breakfast offerings in South East Asia. Some of the priorityclub and clubcarlson franchisees go against the perceived wisdom and offer complimentary breakfast that remarkable.

For the Hyatt chain, Hyatt House serves complimentary breakfast, as well.

I assume this is a US-centric thread. Obviously, many European (and some Asian) hotels offer a breakfast.

I'm not much for free breakfast. Too many opportuinities to eat poorly throughout the day as it is. :D
