United Mileage Plus is making some radical changes to its redemption rates. The large majority of rates are being increased; the new rates come into effect on February 2, 2014.

The milez.biz calculator has both the old and the new rates currently available on its system. You can therefore compare the two directly; both old and new rates are listed side by side and labelled accordingly.

The changes impact both the standard United rates as well as the Star Alliance partner rates. Rates within North America remain largely the same, but other than that members will likely have to spend more miles to get to their destinations.

Try the following as an example:

http://www.milez.biz/en/list_rates.php?f=sfo&t=syd&ffp=147 (San Francisco to Sydney on regular United miles)

In addition to the new United award rates, we have now also added the new Delta SkyMiles. You can query the tool for any city pairing and it will show the old and new redemption rates for SkyMiles.

For example, Miami to Paris: http://www.milez.biz/en/list_rates.php?f=MIA&t=CDG&ffp=12
