    Hi All,

Just saw this on FT... Comair to Cease Operations 29 Sep 2012
Previous news article - Delta Connection carrier Comair, may cease operations this October

I suspect this will make an already grim situation at CVG more so...

does this mean a number of small airports and towns cease to be served at all?

I understand that pinnacle and another regional carrier will be picking up some of the routes. But clearly bad for cvg.

    MEMO to ALL MEMBERS

CVG is not a hub. CVG is a destination that Delta serves from hubs, and a handful of select other cities. Delta will selectively reduce the number of selected cities until the count equals zero.

Delta is forcing the hubs more than any other carrier, and this also includes the removal of MEM as a hub (I know it still has the designation, but that won't last long). The only CRJs that will stay are from secondary hubs (aka not ATL) to bottom tier cities that they still want to have flights to.

I for one am glad to see the CRJs go.

As a former CVG native and the place I first became a loyal DL flyer. This is truly sad.

DL is furthest along into a merger.

CLE is next up on the chopping block.

If you look in the mags in the seatbacks (gotta do something when electronics can't be used) it claims CVG is still one of their hubs.

I've noticed most of my flights to/from CVG seem to be Pinnacle, Chautauqua, or GoJet already so I'm not sure if CVG really will be affected much by Comair's demise. As a resident of the area, I'm hoping the rumors are true and it means we'll get a new airline at our sadly empty airport.
