You may have already seen this one on FT but I thought I'd start the thread here, too.

CO currently has a SEA-EWR mistake fare that allows routing via MEX/LIM/SCL/GIG/BOG for $403 a/i. You can get this as low as $230/ai if you only go to EWR and don't return to SEA.

    I have SEA-IAH-PTY-LIM-EWR-SEA booked for $403.

    Some rules:
    - Less than 24 hours in South America allowed
    - Flights on CO, CM and UA appear to work
    - Orbitz can't seem to price these. I used Kayak and then clicked through to Continental as CO's website was also puking all over the fares, even though they return in search results.

The $403 fare works on weekends. The $230 fare only works during the week that I have found so far. These fares are good through June at least and are available as early as early April.

    Enjoy.

Basically the fare is EWR-via anywhere-SEA for 230 all in one way in W class. You could route almost anywhere via the Americas to get to SEA.

Best I have done so far is EWR-HNL-IAH-SEA for 220 ai for about 11k eqm. Good luck to those who can come up with an even more creative routing.

Edit: i have added a screenshot in case anyone wants to try and replicate it.

    Nice find, leevian86.

Using your thinking I followed it further and found for $409:

SEA-SFO-HNL-ORD-EWR-LIM-IAH-SEA. I know there are some additional stopovers you can add (at least on the domestic side) to make this work. The problem w/ the above itinerary is that you have 2.5 hours in LIM...making this a true mileage run as opposed to getting a bunch of miles and 24 hours in LIM.

Is it possible to do a straight turn in LIM? That could mess things up.

I got EWR-HNL-IAH-MCO-CLE-ORD-SEA booked for $231 a/i on co.com. On ITA I listed it as EWR::co hnl co iah co+ /f bc=w and then chose the 5 stop options. There are a LOT of them, including MSY, IAD, DFW, DEN and many west coast connections.

Going to try to book my return now via S. America and see if I have any success.

There are a lot of quality lines out there to be had.

I'm having trouble getting anything to price on the eastbound with a S. America connection. Any suggestions for ITA syntax to not have it choke? If I have to settle for domestic only I suppose I can, but the PTY or LIM connection would be fun.

Problem with the layover in LIM is that you might be questioned upon returning back by immigrations authorities which can be a hassle to deal with, unless you are throwing away the last segments then thats another story.
GRU works for those who want to vacation in Brazil on the cheap and then book a one way award back. [IMG]
For kickers, someone can try out Europe or anything else as the intermediate point and see if it works as i do not have the time to investigate it further:D
I believe this fare is due to CO forgetting to load routing rules in to it.

I ended up confirming SEA-IAD-GRU-EWR on the return. ITA wasn't showing it but putting SEA-GRU/GRU-EWR into co.com found it. Pulling down 25K EQMs for ~$460 doesn't suck. And I'll get to spend a few hours in GRU (yes, I know about the visa) and a day of meetings in SEA.

Can anyone help me with the wording for ITA for a LIM instead of the above ? I tried subbing LIM for HNL but it does not work. Can anyone help with what to do to see all the LIM options like with HNL ?

There are some totally insane routings with this fare.

For $233 people can get SEA-SFO-LAX-ORD-GRU-IAD-EWR which is just under 13,000 EQM. Double that and do a return EWR-SEA trip via the same or a different city in South America and you've got elite status all wrapped up.

    Enjoy :)

On co.com I was able to build an Itin SEA-IAH-LAX-HNL-SFO-EWR for $246 but after inputting all my payment info, I got the message below. Any suggestions?

You need to change your flight times because you probably have a bad connection in there somewhere. You may also need to try different dates. Keep plugging away at it and you'll get to book it.

Me thinks this mistake fare was just corrected. All of the searches I had been doing all day are now coming back at a minimum of $900, and most are back to the $2000+ range.
At least that's via Kayak. CO may still have some before they get pulled from everywhere.

Edit: found one coming back. Have to find one westbound to SEA.
    Edit 2: lost the eastbound

    Cheers

    I booked SEA-PDX-ORD-GRU-MCO-EWR up front for $1063. It all b:cool::cool:ked into Z except the first segment (H). I also booked SEA-IAH-GRU-EWR in the back for $237. :D :D :D

  22. Thanks, OP! [IMG]

TIcketed, as two one-ways SEA-IAD-GRU-ORD-EWR/EWR-SFO-LIM-IAH-SEA, all but the last segment on UA metal. Return was ticketed just 5 minutes ago, so there may still be some bookings...

OK, I have booked my craziest MR to day, with no positioning needed. All booked via co.com
Outbound is all on UA metal but CO codeshare flight nos. SEA-SFO-LAX-IAD-GRU-ORD-EWR.
The fare code on co.com is V-class
Question 1 - what UA fare code does that map to?
Question 2 - is it eligible for UDU on the domestic flights?
Question 3 - is it eligible for SWU on the international segments?
Return is EWR-HNL-IAD-SEA all on CO metal
Seems to book into W class
Can the EWR-HNL and HNL-IAH segments be upgraded? I think this is operated by international-config flights
    Thanks for your input.
