    What say YOU?

While not totally caught off-guard by the revelation, thankfully, Jett Rink bailed out earlier this year, only stuck with less than 2K points. A 50% bonus promo had something to do with the redemption. ;)

They should've given notice, but is this really a huge deal? Other than SPG, the ratios for points-to-miles transfers are pretty poor to begin with. If you're building up points in a hotel program, you'd get a better value from your points if you redeem them for hotel stays.

Totally agree with the very idea of using hotel points for hotel stays as the best value for redemption. That's always been Jett Rink's mantra.

Still, if one has boo-coo Club Carlson points, and with no where to turn, at least, one can bail with airline miles.

    It's always nice to have a back-up plan, or a parachute. ;)

Yes, it likely is a big deal for people who recently bought points via the Discover America or Flash sales with the intent to transfer them to airline points. A few blogs offered that as an option well publicizing the Discover America sale

I’m sure those authors are not too happy about the change, especially if readers jumped on the opportunity.

    agree with LETTERBOY
However, I also believe that while a future deval is inevitable with Club Carlson for hotel redemptions, this deval will likely happen sooner than later. (and Club Carlson should give notice of any deval)

Agreed - perhaps this is only the beginning, portending further significant devaluations by the Club Carlson frequent guest loyalty program?

Exactly why I didn't talk about them.
    Absolutely. Probably within 3-6 months.
    I give it 50/50.

I believe it got devalued as follows :

    From -
2000 points = 250 miles previously down to 200 miles currently

50000 points = 8000 miles previously down to 5000 points currently

1000000 points = 18000 miles previously down to 10000 miles currently

One too many zeroes on this last one, unless ClubCarlson went exceptionally abusive ;)
