As of May 1, 2013, the hotels listed below will move to a new Hotel Category, resulting in an increase or decrease in the number of points required to redeem an award night. The new categories apply to bookings made on or after May 1, 2013.

So if a property is already quoting the new rates, or has been for a while now, can we ask for the old rates?

This will work out good for our Budapest trip, I was going to do a 2 for 2 paid reservation at the BUD Radisson Blue but now it makes much more sense to pay 18,000 points for 2 two night bookings (one for my wife and one for me) rather than the 200 euro for four nights. Its also interesting because the BUD Art’otel stays at 28,000/night versus the Radisson and a business hotel in the suburbs at 9,000/night each.

FYI: not only did the BUD Radisson Blue's rates fall to 9k/night, but that makes the business class room (breakfast/in room movies) under 14k/night - both still have the second night free for card holders!

Raddisson Blu Budapest is a good choice, in centre one block from Opera.

If you don't have 9000 points it can be cheaper to buy the points at $63 for 9000 than to pay the standard rate of around $100 + city tax.
