I have not seen this posted yet on MP. A heads up to Citi AA cardholders you may get this email. The promo ends April 30, 2012. It was unclear whether the code is unique to me or could be used by others. Thus, I am not listing the code at this time. The phone number to call is 877-576-8014

It is nice of Citi to increase the miles you get for using their product. For those of us with Amex SPG cards this does not compel me to use the Citi card.

I have gotten a few of these, both by email and by USPS (postcard) over the last few years. I am pretty sure the code is specific to the recipient.

I think they are doing it for just about all the cards. I just got it for two of my TY cards. Good for people that use the card anyway, but not at all an interesting enough offer to switch from any of the other cards I have.

Agree. Nothing special. Getting those bonuses several times a year for the past few years on all of my Citi cards.

These are targeted offers. They do this periodically throughout the year, sometimes 20%, sometimes as much as 50%. Occasionally two promos will overlap, and they do stack. There doesn't appear to be any readily identifiable pattern as to who gets the offer, and yes, the promo codes are unique to the recipient.

I got it, too, and called Citi retention to say that it still wasn't enough and would like to cancel. Now have 3.2 mi/$ for the duration of the promotion, then 3 mi/$ after that until July 31, up to $5000 spend.

That's 15,000-16,000 AA miles for $5K spend on 1x purchases.

Added to-do item to task list to call Citi next week. My fee is coming in March.

Best part for me is that my fee isn't due til summer, so I can still cancel before then / get fee waived.

I just got the two Citi AA cards a month ago. Is it worth sending a secure message to see if they can "upgrade" my mileage-earning to 1.2/$? I'm still working on the spend requirement and, between the two cards, have maybe $3500 to go. This would be fantastic. Is Citi reasonably "giving" in this regard, or should I expect them to say "No way", knowing that I don't have any leverage re: cancelling really?

Yes. Send the SM. It will take a moment and could increase your rewards.

Got this offer in the mail today - it has a unique code for me.

I already spend $750/month on this card to get my 750 bonus miles, so now I should get about 1800 miles/month for a $750 spend. Can't complain.

The 20% is on the base, so +150 per $750 spend ... 1650 miles.

Sent from my iPhone using milepoint

Mine was a Citi AA Visa, though mine was activated in late January.

    I'm almost done with my $5,000 spend for 16,000 miles (1 base mile/$ + 0.2 mile/$ bonus + 2 mile/$ retention bonus) ... I wish AA still showed up in AwardWallet :/
