hi. kinda new here, so apologies if this is addressed somewhere else.

i was issued a chase sapphire preferred card for the 40k signup bonus in january this year. i still use the card from time to time, but no way will i accrue another (even) 5k on it this year (too many other minimum spends on other cards).

i was planning to cancel this card later in the year and wondering if i would be eligible for another sign up bonus a year or so down the road if i re-applied for the same card (assuming they're still offering).

    thanks.

You probably have the Visa version so you should be able to get the Mastercard next time and still receive the bonus.

Is there still a MasterCard version? I thought not.

I believe you can change your Visa to MC via phone(but who does that anyways?:) but unfortunately you can no longer apply for it.

Oops, the link I had been saving for the MC version now goes to a page that says, "Offer Unavailable."

From everything I gather, the only way to get the MC now is to PC once you get the Visa.

Maybe this is to reduce churning.

From everything I've seen, you can no longer call to convert to the Mastercard either.
