This should have happened before a disaster. Waiting to spend on a security upgrade rarely seems to fit the budget until the budget is busted by a breech.

Your second sentence is precisely why your first sentence didn't happen.

The Target black hat should get a Nobel Peace prize for forcing this along. Now Americans won't have to worry about being arrested in Europe when their mag stripe card is rejected for payment of a meal.

I've never been worried about that.

Yes I've been to Europe many times.

And had my mag stripe credit card rejected.

As for reading news on the internet, yes I do. You still use newspapers? How quaint.

How many times did you get arrested? ( the silly salient point in your original post:rolleyes:)

This would be a great change. There are many places I can use my mag strip cards and others only take chip and pin (self checkouts, for example at Tesco/Asda won't take them) and the cashiers rarely know how to use them.

Buying train tickets at AMS without an enhanced chip CC is a royal PITA. Most portable/handheld card readers used in many restaurants in Paris do accept magstrip based CCs.
