Shanghai - The rock face of an abandoned quarry in China is to be transformed into a spectacular hotel with its own waterfall.
The Telegraph reports that the hotel, a £345-million (R5bn at R15 to the pound), five-star property for the InterContinental hotel group, will cling to the walls of the quarry and overlook a sunken lake.
As a centre piece, the property will have a 100-metre-high waterfall that will spill from the hotel roof down and be visible from bedroom window.

Two of the hotel's 19 storeys will be submerged, looking into the depths of the lake at the bottom of the 100-metre-deep quarry
