Hi all. I have a question. Is this a situation where I am responsible for my own checked baggage transfer or does the airline do this for me?

AFAIK, you are responsible for the transfer.

That said, getting baggage @ LCY is usually pretty quick..small airplanes and relatively small terminal = decent timing to receive bags.

I think it's a general rule that when you change airports, you must collect the checked bags and take them yourself to the other airport. Even if not, I'm not sure I'd normally want to trust the airlines to accomplish the baggage transfer in a timely manner.

I can confirm you will be responsible for your bags between LCY and LHR

I've never flown into or out of LCY, but on a couple of occasions I took the DLR to Royal Albert to sit on the dockside and watch the planes takeoff and land. I'm not sure if the rowing club is still there, but you could watch them rowing past as well.

    Follow up on my question.

We're going to have at least 3 checked bags and a carry on. Does anyone know if there is a reliable place to store luggage in town? Or would i be best trying to get from LCY to LHR and check in for my flight 7 hours early and head back into town without my bags?

The company that operates the left luggage facilities at LHR (and LGW and MAN) also has locations at mainline railway stations in central London. See this page: http://www.left-baggage.co.uk/locations.php

Probably not the only option, but it came to mind straight away.

I wouldn't assume that you can check in and drop bags this early for your flight.

Some might have been removed for security, but most major rail stations in Europe always had facilities for storing bags.
