I am trying to check award availability at the Andaz 5th Avenue, but the Hyatt website tells me, "you need at least 5,000 points to make an award reservation." I have Chase Ultimate Rewards points that I can transfer to Hyatt, but I don't want to transfer them until I know that a room is available. Is there any way to check award availability if I have fewer than 5000 points in my account?

If there isn't any way for me to check, I would be most grateful if someone wouldn't mind checking to see what room types are available (if any) for check in on Oct 15, and check out on Oct 17.

Have you tried calling the hotel? Seems like they can even hold the room for you during the point transfer period similar to amex MR.

Sold out on the 15th of October:

    Andaz.png

16th has availability -- King award room for 22k points.

And yes, it's utterly ridiculous that you can't search without sufficient points. I had to search for both days separately because I only have 26k points in my account at the moment. They should use this as an opportunity to sell me some points.

You can also always call Hyatt Gold Passport and ask.

Incidentally, Diamonds can actually make award reservations without any ponts in their account, effectively getting advanced the points, they just need to have the points in their account at time of the stay. I don't actually know how they handle the situation if the member doesn't have the points at that point (they do sell points now of course and perhaps covnert to a paid stay?)

I would presume it would convert to the Diamond guaranteed room...(and associated room rate)...but this is a good data point to try and find out....
(I cannot ask my PLA.....because I am still waiting to be assigned a new PLA)...

Can you call 24/7? Since it's 10pm pacific, and I'm loathe to call anyone in general if I don't have to (hearing impairment, phone conversations are a serious nuisance), would love if anyone could check either central Paris property for 27 Dec, 3 nights. Merci. :)

Both currently available - I wouldn't wait long to book though - it's just before New Year's.

Since this appears to be the running thread for this type of thing, can please someone check either Paris Hyatt property for June 3-8? I won't have enough points in my account for probably another 4-6 weeks, and I'm not sure how quickly award space fills up. Do they have a limited number of award rooms, or will they honor points if a room is available?

    Thanks!

If there's a standard room available, you can claim it with points.

If you want to be doubly sure, you can call Hyatt Gold Passport.

I don't know if this is still the case, but it used to be that Diamond members could reserve award nights without sufficient points in their account, they'd just need to earn them prior to the stay.

I'm not certain but I don't think you can do this anymore, since "now" they deduct the points from the account immediately when you do an award reservation, "before" it could be quite sometime after the reservation (occasionally not until the award stay itself) that the points are deducted.

Enabling at least the "check for availability" functionality would be a very useful feature to add for Hyatt, but I guess "polish" (lipstick? ;)) was the theme of the most recent revamp of the site?

About 6 months ago my PLA said it was still possible, but I haven't actually done it. And she's no longer at Hyatt ;)

I was trying to do the same for June; you think they would make it easier to see.

no longer needed, I called in and there was no award availability...

Please will someone check the availability of award space at Hyatt at The Bellevue:
    http://philadelphia.bellevue.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp
for May 7 to 8, one room two people?

My wife and I are attending the PHI Taste of the Nation and room prices are outrageous across the board. Hyatt seems like the lowest UR transfer partner. Since I have no points I cannot check availability.

There is a large convention (Psychiatrists) in PHL during that period - many properties are quite full (or totally full).
