Apparently chip-and-signature. Not sure how much use that will be as opposed to chip-and-PIN.

Report back on your experiences. If it turns out to be of interest, I'll be next on line.

IME, not very, though that was mostly at train kiosks and it could have been because it was an AmEx, not because it was sig versus pin.

About damn time. Took them long enough.

Better than arguing with a cashier who may or may not speak your language to any meaningful degree about how they have to take your card because Visa says so.

When while Chase get it right? Chip and PIN please!!! It can't possibly be that much logistically harder to implement than chip and signature.

I just ordered mine - chip and signature. For me, it makes this really good card even better.

P.S. I was told that the new card will be plastic (not metal like the current card).

    Really?!?

Hmm but I <3 the metal. Maybe I'll just carry two CSP. I got a replacement card for my original CSP and it had the same numbers (even the 3 digit verification code)

If the card is indeed plastic I think I'll have to pass. I already have a chip card and I like my metal ninja star/windshield scraper too much to let it go.

Please do. I'm glad I was feeling lazy yesterday (letting work get in the way of my hobby), and didn't get a chance to call Chase. If it has to revert to a normal plastic card, I'll hold onto my current CSP and just switch over the Ink Bold (when that eventually kicks over in the near future).

Or perhaps this is just the incentive I need to get the Palladium card? :D

Just to follow up. Sent secure message online to Chase CS requesting an EMV card and got response in a few hours stating that card is on the way!

Chip and signature isn't much improvement over swipe and signature, unfortunately. Since I already have a true chip and PIN card, I'll pass on this "improvement" for now.

Many thanks for this! I just requested a chipped CSP card to replace my current one. I do have the chipped Hyatt card, and I have been pleasantly surprised how useful it has been for my several visits to Peru this year. Yes, it still requires a signature, but vendors in Peru seem to default to using the (presumably more secure) chipped method in the portable card-readers they use, and the card reader automatically prints out a receipt for me to sign. Now I can earn the more-flexible UR points for my purchases there.

Just got mine and it's plastic. :( Is this something you have to request when ordering?

I might be the only one here who actually prefers plastic to metal.

I'm sick of cashiers, waitstaff, etc still commenting on it -- "wow, this is heavy" or "is this a real credit card?" Given the chance to order a new plastic one with EMV (even though that's not very useful to me), I'll jump on it!

Of course, the Ritz Carlton Chase card is even worse -- heavier and thicker. Not to mention the  I've gotten when people see the logo.

Got mine today. Most certainly not metal and card number is on the front. Boo. Going to try SM to see if they will send me a new one.

Are we looking at the same card - Chase Sapphire Preferred?? I got the EMV chip version last week, and it's just as heavy as the old one. Already had one clerk comment on it. Nothing visible on the front but my name, Chase card brand and the chip. Only obvious difference to me is that the Chase card/logo is moved up a bit to make room for the chip just below it.
