I think this is targeted and offer codes are specific to each person, but people may try and match a recent (90 days) Chase Sapph Pref application.

Yes, you're right. I tried to match, and unfortunately this is the message I got back from Chase:

"Please be advised, the 70,000 bonus points offer was made
through a small direct mail test and is non-transferable.
The Offer Code and Invitation Number included in the
mailing can only be applied to the recipient's account.
If you are not listed as the addressee of the mailing, we
will be unable to apply the offer to your account.

I understand you may be disappointed and I am sincerely
sorry for any confusion. Please know that we will
consider reviewing the terms of other offers you receive
    in the future.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. If
you have any further questions, please reply using the
    Secure Message Center.

We appreciate your support and understanding in this
    matter."

Thanks for sharing, so no point trying this.

Yep, too bad for those of us who already got the card at a lower points rate. But that's the game right?

If you got the card within the past 90 (?) days and you secure message Chase they may be willing to match

(to clarify i'm not suggesting they WILL match to a targeted offer, just that it's worth asking)

Actually as gleff alluded to, if you got the card within 90 days you might as well ask. There is a chance that someone will be bumped even if jetsetboy was not. Asking via PM is so easy there is not reason not to try.

Hey Gary, I did send a secure message and the answer I posted is what I got back from Chase. As you mentioned though, that doesn't mean others shouldn't try, as they may receive a different answer. I'm just posting my experience to let folks know that it was a targeted offer and not a general 70,000 point offer, so it's likely that very few who weren't targeted will be successful in getting it.:(

Oh, and my card was indeed received within the past 90 days.

If you were denied via SM, has anyone tried a follow up call to chase?

I was offered 75k and didn't take advantage. Now I tried to get the offer but were denied. I think they are pretty firm on not offering to anyone beside the mail recipient. I got so mad and am going to close my accounts and ending my 20 year relationship with Chase.

I think you should become a NicerBird and reconsider. Chase offers the juiciest bonuses on their credit cards. Why end a relationship on a decision that frankly you did not take advantage of...and now have remorse over?
