How does chase know if you have had a particular card before? If you have had a name change (marriage) , does that open an opportunity to repeat apps to same card? I know the SS# doesnt change and your CR doesnt change, but it would be really sweet to double up on a bonus.

Are the pulls on your CR automatically correlated with the particular CC associated with that pull in the banks credit file on you?

    It's definitely by SSN.

Numerous people can have the same name - but no two people (hopefully) have the same SS number. Just like the IRS, the banks go by the unique identifier, and that is the SS number.

Remember that most banks lose track of a card once it has been closed for two years.
